    Niilo Rinne

    The Present in Process
An assemblange made of a wooden box, two photographs, a rescue blanket, two optical elements and dust

    Biography
Niilo Rinne is a curator, planner, and artist who is working in the fields of arts, architecture and sociology. His transdisciplinary and cross-institutional professional practice is based on theoretical interest in systems theory, memory, and alternative value creation processes in the interplay of digital media, the physical environment, and social events.

Rinne is a member of the Gifts/Presents/Presence team and has worked as a curator, producer as well as an artist in the project. He will moderate the Panel 6: Art, Presence, Present.

Rinne was one of the artistic directors of Pori Film Festival from 2015 to 2022 and since 2019 he has worked as a coordinator of urban planning projects at the City of Pori, where one of his main focuses has been the development of the cultural use of the old shortwave radio station in East-Pori. Working with this unique building has deepened his interest in the sociology and philosophy of architecture and technology.

Rinne is based on the island of Reposaari, Pori, on the West-Coast of Finland.
